The Science Hill Drifters snowmobile club from St. Marys, Ontario was officially awarded the Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Parade of Snowmobiles' on Friday, May 1, 2015. Their February 8, 2015 event featured 847 snowmobiles making their way down a 10-km route to accomplish the feat. It took many hours of preparation before the snow even began to fall last season, but numerous volunteers and sponsors helped the fundraising and record-breaking event go off without a hitch. The previous record of an 821-sled parade was held by a group from Minnesota. You can find the Science Hill Drifters.

However, the Science Hill Drifters' claim to snowmobile fame might be short lived. The Whitecourt Trailblazers of Alberta topped the record about a week later during the 2015 World Snowmobile Invasion. Their event drew 1,044 sleds! The Trailblazers are currently awaiting word from Guinness officials verifying the record. Congratulations to both clubs on impressive accomplishments! You've set the bar VERY high! We've got a long way to go from our typical "parade" of four sleds! For more information on the Science Hill Drifters visit www.sciencehilldrifters.com.
