New York State Gives Back

The Cuomo Administration announces additional investments to boost tourism in Upstate New York including enhanced funding for snowmobile trails throughout the state as it touts the success of the Third Annual Adirondack Challenge.

The investment includes $500,000 for New Cross-Border Marketing Campaign and $425,000 to Support Snowmobile Trails across New York State. Since 2011, New York State has invested $130 Million to Promote Tourism. This has resulted in a 12% increase in visitation to 227.5 Million, a 16% increase in visitor spending to $62.5 Billion, and a 15% increase in jobs to 884,200. The snowmobiling industry has an enormous impact on tourism in upstate New York, with an estimated $828 million of economic activity annually. The funding for the Snowmobile Trail Fund will be used for the upkeep of more than 10,000 miles of trail that draws riders from near and afar.

“We applaud Governor Cuomo and his efforts to support tourism growth in New York State,” said NYSSA Executive Director, Dominic Jacangelo. “Snowmobiling is a family-friendly winter activity that gives people a unique opportunity to see New York’s amazing places on the more than 10,400 miles of snowmobile trails. The safety of all riders is a top priority of NYSSA. This increased funding allows us to further our mission, and we thank the Governor for recognizing this need.”
